Obama's Secret? Organization. Time for the Next Step.

There's a very good chance that Barack Obama will win the democratic nomination for president of the United States. Despite being hundreds of delegate votes ahead, Hillary Clinton continues to hang on; she believes she still has a chance.

Sure Hillary, you have a slight chance. But there's one thing Obama has that you don't: incredible organization with his campaign.

That would at least explain why 75,000 people showed up in Portland for an Obama rally today. The last time I heard of a mass of people that large in the news was related to deaths in natural disasters.

Much of Obama's success has been due to social networking. I receive at least three bulletins a day from the Obama camp on MySpace. Any day of the week I am able to tell you where he's at, what he's doing, and where he will be next- and the funny thing is, I don't even care to know all of that information.

It also helps that voting in favor of Obama is trendy. This season Obama gear has become available at Urban Outfitters (and his Shepard Fairey 'Progress' tee is ever so soft). Scarlett Johansson loves him. Will. I. Am. loves him. John Legend loves him. The list goes on.

Despite the numbers of fans- sorry, supporters- of Barack Obama, one must wonder: will he (or anyone else running, for that matter) really tackle the major issues at hand? The major issues seem to be war, health care, and poverty. Let's tack on shuffling unprepared students through the public education system, for good measure.

It's a shame the election process will drag out over the course of the year. In the meantime, more innocent people will die both abroad in the war; and at home due to lack of health care (ha, I might be one of them!) More families continue to struggle to put food on the table. The upcoming generation is facing more challenges in the twenty first century.

I have no intention of rambling on much further, but I will say this: my mom teaches in an elementary school that has a capacity of 600 students. Currently there are over 850 students under one roof.

Presidential hopefuls: Less talky, more action; pleeeeease.

The Greatest Cheerleader in Politics Has Joined Team Obama

This has been a great week for America. The weather is lovely, Weezer released a new single that Perez Hilton is raving about (and with reason -it's amazing!), and Barack Obama has received the golden endorsement of former presidential candidate John Edwards.

It doesn't matter that Clinton killed Obama in the West Virginia primary this week. We don't know the individual names of the voters there, nor do we know what they stand for. Statistics indicate that blue collar, working class whites love Clinton. Well, Congrats Hill- you received their support.

But I can guarantee you one thing: not one West Virginian- or any American, for that matter- has the charisma and spunk of John Edwards. I had the pleasure of seeing him speak in person a few years ago when he was a cheerleader- sorry, I mean running mate- for John Kerry.

I nearly missed out on the whole experience. I had to beg my conservative Republican bosses from the south if I could leave work early that day to bask in the goodness that is John Edwards. Sure, they said no; and sure, I blamed my wrongful early leave from work on my rebellious streak against authority (more like a streak against overpaid imbeciles who infested my place of employment with intent to shut it down and pocket millions off of our future job losses).

I ducked out of the office and ran up the street to see Edwards speak on John Kerry's behalf. About five minutes into his speech I realized something: this man loves to jump around on stage a lot. He laughs, he smiles, he waves his arms about when he gets excited, and he sure knows how to work a crowd. No wonder Hill and Obama were yearning for an Edwards endorsement.

The only thing I hope to see come out of this article is to access YouTube within the next week and see John Edwards cheer remixes to the phrases "End poverty now! (or at least decrease it...yeah!)" and "Go 'Bama! It's yo' birthday! You got my vote! Hurray-ay!" Congratulations, Obama, on this mammoth and bouncy endorsement.

I came to this site today after downing a pot of organic coffee at 1 PM. I only woke up at noon. I love my life, I think.

I went to college to major in professional writing. Actually, I went to multiple colleges to major in multiple things; the last major, professional writing, was a waste. I was surrounded by terrible writers who were raised under the concept of "each one is special and can do whatever they set their mind to."

After reading what I have posted thus far, I have just realized that none of this makes any sense to the reader. I promise this will all come together. After attempting to college up my writing skills, I have come to discover one thing: college ruined my writing. I didn't write for months because of my schedule of work/school/terrible assignments.

With that said, I came to this site earlier this afternoon with one goal: to write. Isn't that why any of us are here? I saw that PNN was looking for political writers. Since that is what drew me here, let me vent about the democrats:

Oh, Hillary and Obama. You both fill me up with so much hope. At the same time, I have no clue what either of you are up to. I should know what's going on- I lost my remote control for my television weeks ago and have not changed the channel since. My bedroom is always filled with the voices of CNN (or Flight of the Conchords, if I remember to plug my DVD player in).

Hillary, you have a lot going on. The folks love you. But you know what drives me bonkers about you? Any time the audience dies down, you fall back on Billy Boy. You promote the good times America had when your man was running the show, and tell others you'll bring those times back.

I don't like the crazy eyes you make, Hill, especially when speaking about foreign relations (and by that I mean America's dependency on every other country for cheap goods). I hate that you voted in favor of the war (and if someone could please tell me why we're there, I'd like to know). You also voted in favor of what the White Stripes call the Great Wall of Mexico. I don't want that symbol on my generation's shoulders, Hill. It's just distasteful.

As for Obama. Oh, Obama. I like your face- it's real nice. I also like that you keep in touch with youth culture; makes us feel good. I feel terrible that critics have torn into about your relations with your pastor reverend friend. I think that some Americans forget that you were a black man growing up in America in the 70s and 80s; from what I've read in the history books, America had some race issues then- and what's a boy to do?

I don't really know what you're going to do for America, Obama. I know that you like Jay-Z and you promise to end the feud between Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag (good luck with that one, by the way). You spoke at my old high school a few weeks ago, and it was impossible to get tickets for the event; that means you're well liked in this part of Pennsylvania. Your calendar makes me chuckle each month; I believe this month's headline reads: 'I think, therefore I am a Democrat.'

As Americans, we're left to decide: yet another political dynasty, or change? Any sensible person knows that one of these two people will be president. The republicans don't have a chance- Ron Paul's voice is barely heard, and John McCain is a TERRIFYING human being.

Until I further my knowledge on both of these candidates, my views end here. I plan to post more thoughts on how these candidates affect me; after all, I am a self-involved 23-year old residing on the East Coast.
